Desert life mainly consists of many different forms and shapes of desert cactus. This waxy coat is actually what helps store the water which is such a rare commodity for desert life. There are some intricate forms of desert cactus which actually grows leaves. The desert cactus which has leaves actually has physical openings to let different waters and air in and out of their bodies. These holes will actually tend to close when the temperature rises throughout the day and opens up when nighttime falls.
You would think that desert life is so simple when you look at an individual desert cactus. When you look at a desert cactus it definitely doesn't look like it would have all these characteristics to help it to survive the desert life.
