Desert Animal of the Sonoran Desert
There are many desert animals that occupy the Sonoran Desert. Desert animals are clearly different from the common animals we are able to see on a regular basis. These desert animals must be built to survive the excessive heat of the Sonoran Desert. As we humans adjust to whatever type of environment we are raised in - animals do so the same way if not better than us. Desert animals can survive the well over hundred degree climate that it climbs to throughout the summer.
These desert animals must also have adapted to the bi-seasonal rainfall pattern that occurs throughout the Sonoran desert. Because animals tend to adapt to the different environment they usually are raised in; the desert animals are well acclimated to the bi-seasonal rainfalls that occur.
Some of these desert animals include the Mexican Gray Wolf, mountain lions, bobcats, golden eagles, coyotes, and great horned owls. There are also a variety of animals that only exist in the Sonoran Desert. The Desert Bighorn, Cactus Pygmy Owls, Sonoran Toads, Sonoran Pronghorn Antelopes, and the Banded Gila Monster only live in the Sonoran Desert.
The Banded Gila Monster may not look like a fatal desert animal but is actually a venomous lizard. There are only two kinds of venomous lizards in the whole world. The Sonoran desert inhabits one of those kinds. They are very colorful being red, pink and orange in color and have lots of spots and stripes on them. Not much is known about the Banded Gila Monster due to its introverted nature.
Out of all desert animals this one is probably the most bashful and actually spends most of its lifetime alone underground. In the Sonoran Desert, Bobcats tend to be no more than twenty pounds however have the formidable roar of a mountain lion.
The Sonoran Desert Toad is a pretty odious looking one out of all of the desert animals. The Sonoran Desert Toad has severely dry skin because it has to survive the hot and dry temperature of the desert.
These desert animals are actually large enough to eat mice; although usually it tends to eat insects. The Cactus Owl has the full name of the Cactus Ferruginous Pygmy Owl. These desert animals are very tiny and of a brownish color. These owls love to nest in the holes of desert cactuses.
All of these desert animals have such distinct characteristics because they are such creatures raised in such a diverse environment. These desert animals are just one of the reasons why the Sonoran Desert is such a sought out tourist attraction. Who wouldn't want to come and explore such living things that you are not able to view anywhere else?
